Born and raised in the metro DC area, singer/songwriter Joy Hanna felt called into a music ministry at the early age of eleven, when she started writing songs. Joy then began leading worship for her church, recording her original songs and touring. She graduated from Liberty University and served on staff as a worship leader at McLean Bible Church for two years.
After learning about the horrific problem of human trafficking in January 2013, she was compelled to write an album of songs to bring awareness to the issue and offer hope and encouragement to the victims. This album, titled, “Set Free,” released in March 2015 and has been distributed to domestic and global organizations who fight against sex slavery. In addition, Joy shares these songs at human trafficking awareness events and with the residents of local safe homes.
Joy and her husband recently moved to Houston, Texas, where they enjoy riding bikes, playing tennis, exploring local restaurants, hosting and doing ministry together at their church. Joy continues to write songs, lead worship and use her voice to shine a light on modern day slavery.
