The history of The Gospel Travelers began 43 years ago as a vision and dream of two individuals who belonged to a small church in Frederick, Maryland. Their vision for the group was to travel around the area bringing God's message of love and salvation to as many people as possible through song. Since they had to travel a great deal to rehearsals and engagements, the name Gospel Travelers was born. That vision and dream is still the desire of the present members of the group.
God has richly blessed and expanded the ministry of The Gospel Travelers over the years. As former members needed to leave the group, God always provided someone to fill the void.
The men and women of The Gospel Travelers are dedicated and God-loving individuals that believe in using the talents that God has given them in the service of the Lord. Although none of the members are compensated for their time or talents, they all feel rewarded by the blessings of each performance, and the people that they meet on the road.
The Gospel Travelers have brought their ministry of southern style music to many churches, nursing homes, festivals, revivals, reunions and restaurants. So far, there have been no bounds as to where the group will go. One favorite Scripture Verse of the group can be found in the Book of Psalms; Psalms 40:2 "He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God".
